wHO WE ARE
2D Films is an independent production business, centring on the making of cinematic and artistic corporate and creative media works…
A one-stop-shop for all things moving image. The 2 D’s (Dion Borrett and Daniel Holliday) work closely with industry professionals to create aesthetically pleasing, artistic and resonant imagery. We pride ourselves on effectively operating with agency, client and key creatives to connect with a desired audience.
Dion has been a dedicated and devoted filmmaker for many years. In 2009 he graduated from the Central Institute of Technology (Perth, Western Australia) with an Advanced Diploma of Screen (Film & Television) majoring in Cinematography. He returned to studying in 2011 to complete a Bachelor of Communications in Film & Television at the WA Screen Academy at Edith Cowan University, where he specialised in Cinematography and Directing.
He is a cinematographer/photographer, also working extensively in lighting for films, music videos, commercials and other creative projects. Most recently he worked as gaffer on ABC Kids TV Series: Thalu as well as the feature documentary, KOKO: A Red Dog Story. He has shot extensively for Netflix Originals, 72 Dangerous Animals - Latin America and 72 Dangerous Animals – Asia, which are both available on the streaming platform currently.
Daniel is an award-winning cinematographer, with ongoing experience in feature film, music video, short film, corporate and commercial works. He has a love of visual storytelling that centres on the artistic and captivating, communication and collaboration skills that work seamlessly within film making environments, finding himself at home behind the lens and creating beautiful images.
His background and experience in lighting has served him well in formulating a cinematic visual language, which has been developed with the help of many great storytellers, including friend and mentor, Denson Baker ACS NZCS.
With over 12 years of teaching experience within the West Australian education industry, Daniel also brings an experienced approach to achieving success working with others, which comes from a fully formed communication skill set and collaborative approaches to solving problems and overcoming challenges.
Daniel’s most recent work includes projects for MRS MACS, AIR NEW ZEALAND, RAC, ABC, AMEX and WARNERBROS while also lensing the feature film 3rd NIGHT (2015) and additional elements of PAPER PLANES (2015).
